POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Account Executive will lead and manage multiple client accounts independently, building strong client relationships beyond the life of a single project, managing expectations, and delivering results. In addition to leading and executing PR campaigns for clients, they will supervise a team comprised of account executives, assistant account executives, account coordinators and interns.
Essential Job Functions (duties include but are not limited to the following):
- Build effective and efficient teams by setting clear goals, troubleshooting any challenges that arise, communicating regularly with direct reports, and managing accounts to profitability;
- Gain the confidence of clients by thinking strategically about their challenges and demonstrating strong project management skills in the execution of account work;
- Develop and implement outreach strategies to the press and other target audiences;
- Create and review substantive and accurate materials to be distributed to the media;
- Proactively pitch the media with creative story angles, securing media results, and respond in a timely and cordial manner to inbound media requests for materials and interviews

- Build relationships with writers, editors, KOLs and producers who might cover or collaborate with our clients;
- Create weekly, monthly, and final activity and media reports for clients;
- Update database and mailing lists of media, social media and art world contacts;
- Oversee frequent e-mailings of press releases and other collateral material to the media;
- Stay informed about changes and trends in the field of digital and social media, make suggestions, and adapt in meaningful ways;
- Create and execute thoughtful client social media and strategy campaigns using established KPIs and stated client objectives;
- Proactively support FITZ & CO’s social media to ensure platforms reflect current agency positioning and business goals;
- Regularly update and maintain agency website, including copy, images and press releases;
- Draft copy for social media posting and update AirTable with client news announcements and imagery
- Plan and execute media events on behalf of clients (including managing guest lists, RSVPs, onsite event management and coordinating photographers and media introductions);
- Identify prospective clients and develop creative and strategic new business proposals as needed;
- Create and update client presentations related to strategic marketing campaigns;
- Create and update case studies;
- Identify opportunities to upsell FITZ services to clients who may need additional support;
- Train and supervise account teams to think and act strategically so that clients are satisfied and projects are managed to profitability;
- Provide meaningful and constructive feedback to direct reports regularly and as part of the annual performance review process;
- Advise the leadership team of management issues as they arise and address them in a timely and constructive manner;
- Ensure that direct reports understand their career path—including strengths that contribute to the firm and growth areas that will help them to advance.
- Every member of the FITZ & CO team must adopt and make daily use of office systems such as time tracking (Harvest), the CRM (Hubspot and MuckRack), Slack, and expense reporting (Expensify).
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in FITZ & CO’s New York office. We are currently working on a hybrid schedule in office Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and optionally in office Tuesdays and Fridays. (Schedule subject to change at CEO’s discretion). The Senior Account Executive will be expected to travel to domestic and international client events; and, on occasion, service clients’ crisis communications needs outside of regular working hours given the ever-changing digital landscape. Because we work across time zones, the Senior Account Executive is required to be available before and after normal office hours (M-F, 10-6) and occasionally on weekends. Every member of the FITZ & CO team must adopt and make daily use of office systems such as time tracking (Harvest) and the CRM (Hubspot and MuckRack).
Requirements:
- B.A. degree
- 5-8 years of experience in public relations, communications, and/or fine arts
- Agency or PR experience a must, preferably in a museum or arts organization
- Demonstrates leadership and professionalism to clients, colleagues and direct reports
- Previous experience successfully leading teams of 2-10 members
- In-depth knowledge of and existing relationships with writers, editors and producers who cover the arts
- Literacy in digital marketing and social media
- Stellar written and verbal communications skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Detail-oriented and fastidious about data entry and database management
- Technical skills: Mac-savvy, MS Office Suite, Outlook, MuckRack
- Experience with Photoshop, Hubspot and Harvest a plus
- Experience with HTML templates and creating bulk email distributions
- Fluency in foreign language a plus

Salary Range: $75,000 – $80,000
